Day two

First day blog didn't post but now I have net.  We are sitting in a little cafe on the second floor of one of the buildings in Covent Garden.  The weather is drizzly and overcast.  About 60F right now.

Yesterday we obviously made it through security without issue, found our bus and made it to the hotel without incident.  Once we checked in we walked to the palace, saw the royal gardens and went to an organ recitle inside Westminster Abby.  I saw some fantastic brass rubbings on the floor of the abby, as well as many tombs.

After the abby we walked back to our hotel and stopped into a pub for some good grub and some brew.  I had to have a Guinness.  Mom and I had the shepards pie with lamb (which was amazing included photo of the pie) and dad had fish and chips.

We are off to toe british museum because of the rain once we are done lunch.

Off To London!

So it is that time.  I am at the airport again, waiting another hour and I will be on my way to London.

Today I had the chance to ride Jep.  I have to say, I am not in as much shape as I used to be!  I could only handle 30 min of riding before my legs got sore.  How sad!  Regardless it was wonderful to be on him again and take him for a little ride.  I also got to take Buster out for a spin.  Buster is a mini pony who stands 31 inches at the back.  He is used on the farm as a cart pony.  He has a huge personality for his size.  I will post photos of that later when I am not posting from my phone.

After the ride Matt and Stacy showed up and brought me a donair, which I can not find in California for the life of me.  They also gave me a lovely card and beautiful pair of earrings.  Bryce also came over.  It was go GREAT to see him again.  It has been years!  his father also stopped in to pick him up.  It was a joy to see his dad too.  I do hope that I get a chance to have at least one adventure with Bryce when I go back in August.  I miss the fun we used to have.

I'm going to sign off for now.  Here hoping there is WiFi on the flight and that I can post on my phone, or listen to pandora.  If not it will have to be on the mini laptop.

Good morning!

A little good morning from the family farm.  Here is what i woke up to!  Off to ride my horse.

Arriving in NS

Well it's midnight here and I'm wrapping up for bed.  Got to meet Stacy, my brothers fiance.  What a wonderful woman.  So bubbly and friendly.  I get to spend more time with her and my brother tomorrow.  I also get to see Bryce!  YAY!  It has been almost 10 years since I have seen him and lets say he is missed.

Other events of note tonight:

I took a trip down memory lane with looking at photos, projects, awards and drawings of mine.  I still can't believe I drew the attached photo of Zazu from the lion king.  Color is off because of lighting.

I got to see Jeopardy my horse again.  He's still Jep but you can see off the bat that he has matured in his actions and reactions to things.  I got to see all the others as well.  I snapped a decent shot of Jep with my phone.  He was pretty animated because it was feeding time but I caught him in a momentary pose.

Well off to bed now.  Gotta get adjusted.  It is 1am here and only 10pm in California.  I have another multi hour time change to deal with tomorrow.

More to come.  Will post about the flight.  Perhaps they will have WiFi and I can post some random ramblings.

Good night!  :)

Boston Airport

What an interesting little hub.  Brief post as my phone charge is low.

If you ever fly through here and need to change terminals be ready to go through security again.  The B terminal is actually 2 separate terminals.  1-3 are one and 4 and up is another.  I was in B3 but got directed to the other section of B.... so I went through security twice.

Now to wait for my flight to Halifax.  Then rest until tomorrow evening when I take off with mom and dad to the big part of our trip.

Here are a few shots I snapped while we were in flight.

On the way!

It is 5 am and just a quick post before I fly to Boston. Only 55 min until take off.

Ironic thing about this morning....  a sign that said "thank you for participating in security".  Participate?  Like we can chose.  Pardon the sarcasm but there is some amusement in the sign that tickled my amusement after only a few hours of sleep I got (which was of my own choosing).

Besides that i got to "participate" in the wonderful new scanners they have.  They closed the walk through after the person in front of me.  They are mandatory in SF now by the looks of it.  Oh well.

Getting Closer!

So this is my official test blog while running without cellular connection but using WiFi.

Planning to send post cards to friends who want them while I am in europe.  Seems like they were excited about the idea.  Maybe I can get their info into my phone before I go so I can have it written out in case I do not have net.

I fly out on the 11th in the morning.  Return on the 21st.  Can't wait.

Trip Preparations

So time is getting closer to my first trip out of the country.  I have my documents, I have my itinerary and I am growing more and more excited as the day approaches.

So far all I have planned is my flights and hotel.  My parents and I are eager to be there.  They cannot wait to share with me a new part of the world, and I cannot wait to experience it.  Over the next few days I am going to post some test blogs, that have info, but what will test my posting capabilities while in Europe.  I am going to be posting via WiFi because international phone and data is expensive!

So in my planning here are some things I want to try to see:

Stonehenge: Being a druid this is HIGH on my things to see list.  Been wanting to go for years.  Now I'm going to be an hour away instead of half the world away.  Fingers crossed mom n dad are willing to make the trip out, I do not want to inconvenience them.

Abby Road Studios: my dad and I are huge Beatles fans.  How could I be staying a 15 min drive from there and NOT go.  That would be stupid.  I'm going to see if we can plan this visit as a stop on the way to something else so that there is no feeling of waisting a day.

National Gallery: I had the chance to see part of their Leonardo collection when it came to San Jose.  Now I want to see the rest plus other things in the collection.

The British Museum: The home of the Rosetta stone and 2 million years of world history under one roof.  This sounds like fun to me.

Royal Museum Greenwich: stand on two hemisphiers and see lots of unique things on a campus of 4 museums!  What?!  This sounds like another winner for me.

Tate Art Museum: another interesting museum, but with more modern arts.  I'm more interested in post impressionism and earlier.

So far that is what I am curious about.  I am going to talk about it with my parents and see.  Hopefully we can come to middle ground and decide.  I know some of what I have listed is some of what they are suggesting!

Stay tuned for further updates and posts as I get closer!
